About UPT
More than a century of excellence. Only just beginning.
Politehnica University Timișoara has been training engineers, scientists and innovators for more than a century. Since its founding in 1920, it has been the backbone of technical education in western Romania and, increasingly, a force at national level.
The trajectory speaks for itself: 4th place in 2023, 2nd place in 2024, 1st place in 2025, according to the Best Universities in Romania ranking. In January 2026, UPT launched the largest research investment in its history: almost EUR 35 million in microelectronics, artificial intelligence, embedded systems, advanced communications, photonics, radar technology and automotive systems.
For students, this means access to state of the art laboratories, involvement in European research projects and direct collaboration with industry leaders, not after graduation, but during their studies.
